Pete Corbett, 51
Veteran banger racer Pete Corbett, 51, was saved by DLRAA
after a life-threatening collision at Buxton Raceway in May
2010. Pete broke 14 bones in his body, ruptured the main
artery in his heart, punctured both his lungs and needed 40 pints
of blood after the crash during a figure of eight competition at
Buxton Raceway. He was treated by the track paramedics for an hour
and a half before being airlifted to Wythenshawe
Hospital.

speaker for DLRAA, presented a slideshow of DLRAAs work to
Buxton Rotary Club members, afterwards The Rotary Club then
presented him with a £500 donation for DLRAA.
With four friends; Nick Hadfield, Ian Clucas, Nick Marshall and
Justin Howarth Pete pledged to raise funds for DLRAA. The
quartet drove over 500 miles from Chinley to John O'Groats in one
day in 2010. And if that wasn't a challenge enough - they did it in
two three-wheeled Robin Reliants!
Pete, of Brown Edge Road, said: "The paramedics at the track did
a fantastic job and the air ambulance took me to Wythenshawe really
quickly. To travel by road would have taken a lot longer."
Peter, who works at Tunstead Quarry, added: "It's because of
DLRAA that I'm lucky to be here, so I'm very glad to be a volunteer
speaker and fund-raiser for them. They saved my life, and they
will go on saving lives, providing they continue to receive
donations, no matter what the size."
