Fall victim flown to hospital by DLRAA
24 January 2012
A man who cut his head in a fall at home was airlifted to
hospital by Derbyshire, Leicester & Rutland Air Ambulance
(DLRAA). The helicopter flew to the village location in
Leicestershire, south west of the East Midlands Airport DLRAA base.
It landed in a field near the house at around 12.35pm, on Monday 23
January.
The 54-year-old had collapsed and gashed his head on a glass
beaker. The East Midlands Ambulance Service fast response paramedic
had called in the Air Ambulance to help due to the significant
blood loss from the cut.
DLRAA crew fitted the patient with a neck collar and immobilised
him for the flight to Royal Derby Hospital.
