Happy Birthday! DLRAA Belper shop celebrates a year of Trading
26 January 2012
The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland (DLRAA)
Charity Shop in Belper celebrates a year of trading, on Saturday
January 28.
Kerry Martin, DLRAA Retail Area Manager, North said: "It has
been a fantastic year for our Belper shop. We have had amazing
support from regular customers and have exceeded our sales target
for the year by 14 per cent. The level of donations has also been
very high and we really feel part of the community in Belper. We
have a brilliant team of volunteers and wonderful staff.
"The year hasn't been without challenges though. We had a flood
but thanks to a great team effort we had the shop open and trading
again in just two days."
The Belper Town Crier Terry Porter will be outside in King
Street welcoming shoppers who will enjoy a party atmosphere inside.
Manager Julie Wells said: " We have some super stock to celebrate
our birthday and hope that regulars and some new customers will
come and say hello. Some of our volunteers have been with us all
year so will be popping by to have a cup of tea with us.
"We will have a tombola, a cake raffle and a special Pin the
Rotor on the Heli game for the children too."
The Belper shop was the first DLRAA shop in Derbyshire but a
year on and there are now eleven in total across the regions
covered by DLRAA and sister service Warwickshire &
Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) with the first specialist
furniture charity shop just opened in Wellingborough,
Northamptonshire (Friday January 27) .
