Volunteer School Speaker

Why we need you?

To raise awareness of the Air Ambulance and increase donations through giving talks & promoting fundraising throughout local Schools/Colleges.

 

What will I be doing?

  • Representing us through regular speaking engagements at Schools/Colleges.
  • Presenting a variety of topics including aircraft, medical and fundraising information.
  • Recording any enquiries made by education providers requesting a talk and liaising with your dedicated Fundraising Manager to book these.
  • Keeping simple records of your talks for administrative purposes.

 

What skills and attributes do I need?

  • A proficiency and confidence in public speaking.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Good influencing and persuading skills for encouraging Schools/Colleges to become involved with the charity.
  • Ability to work well with young people.
  • Able to work alone & as part of a group.
  • Ability to drive and willingness to use your own vehicle.
  • Enthusiasm for the work of the Air Ambulance is vital to this role.

 

How much time do I need to commit?

Ideally, you would average a minimum of one talk per month on a flexible time commitment where you keep your own diary of speaking engagements.



What support will I be given?

  • You will receive opportunities to shadow other volunteer speakers and staff members delivering talks in Schools/Colleges.
  • We will give you a full induction on all aspects of the role, including your presentation on CD & a portable Speaker Pack.
  • We will provide you with continuous support, advice and guidance.

Where will I be based?

Most of your work will involve being out and about representing the charity in your local Schools/Colleges.
